Beliz Kitchen (47 Kingsway on the Kingsway roundabout) is pleased to annouce the completion of its community art project on the 27th February 2009.
The mural on the side of our cafe, overlooking the Kingsway roundabout is being designed by a local artist who sucessfully won our competition after entries were judge by some of our staff, local workers and residents. We are hoping that this colourful design will become a local landmark and will give residents some pride in their area (espeically with all the doom & gloom at the moment). The design is a rainbow of food with "*heart* Levenshulme" in the centre. We've taken pride in the cafe we have created in the local area and are especially proud of how this design is taking shape. If you want to pop down on Friday to take a look then please do. Kind regards, Ben |

Hello
I work for a not-for-profit organisation called Sow the City that's just setting up in Levenshulme to help people grow their own food. We've recently received start up funding from Unltd (Lottery funding). The funding is for a project to be delivered in the Levenshulme area from April - June and we've committed ourselves to helping 20 households grow their own food in their unused outdoor areas (gardens, yards, windowsills etc.). We provide advice and training to people on how to grow food but also supply growing equipment such as ‘raised beds’, compost, soil and seeds. Some of our start up funding will also be spent on a website, premises (hopefully behind the antiques village), and a basic growing guide. I would be happy to meet and talk about this project and what your involved in. Alternatively I can send you more information about the project to circulate round your mailing list. Kind Regards Jon Ross 07708622368 |
