A group from Manchester University are working on a regeneration framework for Levenshulme Town Centre to go to consultation with the City Council later in the year. In order to help create a vision for Levenshulme's District Centre they need the input of all residents. They ask that anyone interested in the future of Levenshulme should fill out this quick questionairre to help them gather data.

What about beer?
M19 and the Bluebell do not sell real ale, infact, apart from the sidings, you'll be pushed to find a decent pint in levenshulme. Can we not ask the publicans to sell real ale in an aid to reinvigorate the night life in levenshulme? as Samuel Taylor Coleridge once wrote: water water everywhere but not a drop to drink. |

I just wanted to make everyone aware that they are proposing to close Barlow Road Post Office branch on a permanent basis. Please give your support by signing the petition which is held in the shop and voicing any objections to consultation@postoffice.co.uk. The consultation deadline is 21st july. Why not find out how you can become a volunteer in our shop at 978 Stockport Road, Levenshulme. I need up to 20 people to fill our team for the whole week. You can choose your best day and time. We raise money to help the most disadvantaged children in Manchester and the rest of England, and we need your help! Call in at the shop and ask to speak to Jemma or give me a ring on 0161 257 3407. Thanks

Just want to make everyone aware of the huge scam involving extra warranties on electrical goods, especially in the run up towards Christmas. I only found this out last week but if you have bought anything first-hand, if it breaks down due to a manufacturing issue, i.e you didn't do it yourself you can either get the shop to repair it FREE OF CHARGE or you can claim a FREE LIKE-FOR-LIKE REPLACEMENT. This is all backed by consumer direct. Anything you buy is guaranteed for SIX YEARS regardless of whether or not you bought a Guarantee.
BASICALLY DO NOT BUY EXTRA GUARANTEES YOU DO NOT NEED THEM!!! Under the Sale of Goods act 1979 you have the right to free repair or replacement. I have just put this into practice, my Nan bought an electric fire from a well known catalogue company, it broke down after having it 18 months, she was told that because it was out of the 12 month guarantee she was not entitled to ANYTHING. THIS IS NOT TRUE. I rang on behalf of my Grandmother, quoted the Sale of Goods Act and lo and behold, I spoke to them tonight to which they stated that they had 'spoken to their legal department and they would replace the fire'. If I can do this so can you! Refuse to be ripped off!! Lets get the power back in to the hands of the consumers!! Pass it on people!! I |

Is there a Rushford Park Residents Assoc? There is one mentioned on the links section but emailing the contact given doesn't produce a response... if anyone knows anything I would be interested.
Also I would be interested if the more active parts of Levenshulme [maybe I mean the geographically more active parts of the FOL] consider Rushford Park as a part of 'Levenshulme' [leaving aside we are in the same ward, etc.]... I can imagine arguments on both sides... Leopold |
