To celebrate the 10th anniversary of this years Levenshulme Festival a special exhibition and performance has been commissioned to celebrate the area’s diverse community. ‘Diversity of Appearance’ is the title of the special piece which features a collection of local artists and performers who will be exploring and challenging people’s perception of themselves and others. The work includes award winning photography, live music, dance, poetry, fashion, Theatre and Levenshulme’s very own beach! Shades and swimsuits are optional for visitors! The launch features a host of live entertainment from the award winning contemporary Irish Poet ‘Tony Walsh’ fresh from appearance in Cork through to Irish music from ‘Shake the Barley’ and middle Eastern dancing from the Levenshulme based Mahabat Egyptian Dancers. M19 Promoter James Hennigan said one of the area’s most famous musicians - Ian Brown of the ‘Stone Roses’ once famously said that Manchester has everything apart from a beach. Fantastic, can't wait for the festival to start.....hope we get to enjoy some late summer seaside weather!
